A Day of Awe - Easter

“….challenges of our day make it harder for those who suffer them to comprehend, hope for, and have faith in a righteous, loving, and caring Father. Just as the Father seeks to help us to know Him, the adversary uses every means possible to come between the Father and us. Fortunately, there is no power, sin, or condition that can keep us from the love of the Father. Because God loved us first, we can come to know Him and love Him.”
Quentin L. Cook
“Never did the Savior give in expectation of receiving. He gave freely and lovingly, and His gifts were of inestimable value…We should strive to give as He gave. To give of oneself is a holy gift. We give as a remembrance of all the Savior has given.”
Howard W. Hunter

“When we wonder if we are known by our Savior and our Father in Heaven or how well They know us personally, we might remember the Savior’s words to Oliver Cowdery  ‘If you desire a further witness, cast your mind upon the night that you cried unto me in your heart, that you might know concerning the truth of these things.’  Earlier the Savior stated to him, ‘There is none else save God that knowest thy thoughts and the intents of thy heart.’  The Savior reminded Oliver that He knew every detail of that pleading prayer and remembered the exact time, the very night.”
Linda S. Reeves

Our Jewish friends have special days each year which they refer to as “High Holidays” or “High Holy Days.”  In Hebrew it is  officially, “Yamim Noraim,” which means are you ready? “Days of Awe.” Do you love that? Don’t you want to have days of awe too? Don’t you want this Easter Sabbath to be a Day of Awe a high holy day. A day where you are left wondering–in awe–why Someone would descend from a royal throne to rescue a soul like mine. A day spent in awe of the incredible reality of a sinless life.  A uniquely sensitive, sinless soul sacrificed for sin. To ransom. To rescue. To plunge into the darkest corners of hell to set us free.
Willingly…. Because of love. Because of Him?

“As we approach this holy week Passover Thursday with its Paschal Lamb, atoning Friday with its cross, Resurrection Sunday with its empty tomb may we declare ourselves to be more fully disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, not in word only and not only in the flush of comfortable times but in deed and in courage and in faith, including when the path is lonely and when our cross is difficult to bear.”
