Come home

“That you may be blessed with every good gift is my prayer.”
“Courage is required to make an initial thrust toward one’s coveted goal, but even greater courage is called for when one stumbles and must make a second effort to achieve.”
Thomas S. Monson

“We are a covenant people, and great are the obligations which go with that covenant.”
Gordon B. Hinckley

“…There is a big difference between mere desire and covenant. When we just
desire something, we will work towards achieving it only when convenient.
But when we are bound by a sacred covenant, like baptism, we are learning to
overcome all obstacles through obedience, and in so doing we will be blessed
with the presence of the Spirit and therefore eventually with achievement.
We are beginning to become alive as we take, knowingly, full responsibility
for our own life and as we stop blaming circumstances.”
F. Enzio Busche

“By definition, trials will be trying. There may be anguish, confusion, sleepless nights, and pillows wet with tears. But our trials need not be spiritually fatal. They need not take us from our covenants or from the household of God.”
Neil L. Andersen

“…We can either self-justify our actions, like Cain, or look to submit to the will of God. The question before us is not whether we are doing things which need correcting, because we always are. Rather, the question is, will we ‘shrink’ or ‘finish’ the call upon our soul to do the will of the Father?”
Robert C. Gay

“It is essential that we renew our covenants by partaking of the sacrament. When we do this with a sincere heart, with real intent, forsaking our sins, and renewing our commitment to God, the Lord provides a way whereby sins can be forgiven from week to week. Simply eating the bread and drinking the water will not bring that forgiveness. We must prepare and then partake with a broken heart and contrite spirit. The spiritual preparation we make to partake of the sacrament is essential to receiving a remission of our sins.”
 Vaughn J. Featherstone

“There is reason for us to have great hope and optimism about our family. It comes first from our testimony of the nature of our Heavenly Father: He loves our family members; He is their Heavenly Father as well as ours. It also comes from our testimony of the mission of Jesus Christ: He paid the price to redeem them. And it comes from our testimony of the restoration of priesthood keys. Because of that, the power is on the earth again to make covenants with God which seal families together–covenants which God honors.”
Henry B. Eyring

“Often we live side by side but do not communicate heart to heart. There are those within the sphere of our own influence who, with outstretched hands, cry out, ‘Is there no balm in Gilead?’ I am confident it is the intention of each member of the Church to serve and to help those in need. At baptism we covenanted to ‘bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light.’ How many times has your heart been touched as you have witnessed the need of another? How often have you intended to be the one to help? And yet how often has day-to-day living interfered and you’ve left it for others to help, feeling that ‘oh, surely someone will take care of that need.’ We become so caught up in the busyness of our lives. Were we to step back, however, and take a good look at what we’re doing, we may find that we have immersed ourselves in the ‘thick of thin things.’ In other words, too often we spend most of our time taking care of the things which do not really matter much at all in the grand scheme of things, neglecting those more important causes.”
Thomas S. Monson

“We have a responsibility and a great opportunity. There are many who need to
once again experience the sweet savor of happiness and joy through activity in the
Church. That happiness comes from receiving the ordinances, making sacred
covenants, and keeping them. The Lord needs us to help them. Let us do the right
thing at the right time, without delay.”
José L. Alonso

“The feeling of longing for home is born into us. That wonderful dream cannot become real without great faith—enough for the Holy Ghost to lead us to repentance, baptism, and the making and keeping of sacred covenants with God. This faith requires enduring bravely the trials of mortal life. Then, in the next life, we can be welcomed by our Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son to that home of our dreams.”
Henry B. Eyring

“On the journey along the pathway of life, there are casualties. Some depart from the road markers which lead to life eternal, only to discover that the detour chosen ultimately leads to a dead end. Indifference, carelessness, selfishness, and sin all take their costly toll in human lives. There are those who, for unexplained reasons, march to the sound of a different drummer, later to learn they have followed the Pied Piper of sorrow and suffering. Today there goes forth from this pulpit an invitation to people throughout the world: Come from your wandering way, weary traveler. Come to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Come to that heavenly haven called home. Here you will discover the truth. Here you will learn the reality of the Godhead, the comfort of the plan of salvation, the sanctity of the marriage covenant, the power of personal prayer.”

“Come home.”

Thomas S. Monson
