True happiness

"Happiness is a byproduct of helping others. No man ever finds happiness by thinking of himself. True happiness comes when we lose ourselves in the service of others when we are merciful to our fellowmen."

Royden G. Derrick

"True happiness comes only by making others happy-the practical application of the Savior's doctrine of losing one's life to gain it. In short, the Christmas spirit is the Christ spirit, that makes our hearts glow in brotherly love and friendship and prompts us to kind deeds of service. It is the spirit of the gospel of Jesus Christ, obedience to which will bring 'peace on earth,' because it means-good will toward all men."

David O. McKay

"In our day the spirit of giving gifts plays a large role in commemorating the Christmas season. I wonder if we might profit by asking ourselves, What gifts
would the Lord have me give to Him
or to others at this precious season of the year?"
 Thomas S. Monson

" Gordon B. Hinckley has said that those who reach out to lift and serve others 'will come to know a happiness … never known before. … Heaven knows there are so very, very, very many people in this world who need help. Oh, so very … many. Let's get the cankering out of our lives, stand a little taller and reach a little higher in the service of others.'"
Joseph B. Wirthlin

"Christmas is a desire to sacrifice for others, to render service, and to possess a feeling of universal brotherhood. It consists of a willingness to forget what you have done for others, and to remember only what others have done for you; to ignore what the world owes you, and think only of … your duties in the middle distance, and your chance to do good and aid your fellow-men in the foreground-to see that your fellow-men are just as good as you are, and try to look behind their faces to their hearts-to close your book of grievances against the universe, and look about you for a place to sow a few seeds of happiness and go your way unobserved"
Howard W. Hunter
